On February 28, 1939, within four months after Swami Premananda first held services in the chapel that is now known as the Church of the Children he set aside in a corner of the chapel a small collection of books that began the Library of India. Over the years, the Library grew from donations and is currently located in a separate room in the Golden Lotus Temple. The Library contains over 500 volumes of esoteric wisdom from the world's great religious traditions and a complete collection of Swami's own works. By joining the Library of India for a lifetime membership of $5.00, seekers of the Truth have the privilege of borrowing many profound works of wisdom and realization. Church services are held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon each Sunday; the Library is open each Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. |
