Our very birth brings with it a purpose, a purpose we long to know and to fulfill. That purpose remains within our hearts and minds as a companion closer than parent or friend or spouse. One does not need to go out in search for it. It is not as if, dropped from the sky to experience life on earth, our individual consciousness must conjure a reason, a responsibility and a future without the spiritual foundation of divine self-assurance. The ideal of Yoga is self-realization. Its purpose is to join our individual life with God and nature while unfolding our true potential as children of God.
